Terms of Service
1. Agreement
These terms are between you and [PLACEHOLDER — legal entity name] (“DEFT”). By downloading or using the DEFT application or service you accept them. If you don't, don't use DEFT.
2. Your account
You need a Google account to sign in. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your device and credentials secure. One account is for one person; DEFT is personal software and accounts are not shared.
3. Plans, trials and billing
- Paid plans are Starter ($1.99/month), Max ($20/month) and Unlimited ($49.99/month), in USD. Yearly billing is offered at a 20% discount.
- Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. No card is required to start the trial.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Payments are handled by Stripe.
- Cancel at any time from Settings. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not prorate partial periods.
- If you are unhappy within 14 days of your first payment, email us and we will refund it. Beyond that, refunds are at our discretion.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. Changes never apply to a period you have already paid for.
4. Plan limits
Starter and Max include a monthly allowance of agent runs, which resets on the first of each month. One agent run is one completed background job on one task. Classification, reminders, the Daily Brief and Gmail triage do not count against it. Your usage is always visible in Settings.
“Unlimited” on the Unlimited plan means we do not meter your agent runs, API credits or token usage for normal individual use. We reserve the right to contact you, and if necessary to rate-limit, in cases of automated abuse, resale of capacity, or usage that is orders of magnitude beyond individual use — but we will always talk to you before we act.
5. Agent output — read this one
DEFT's agents produce research, comparisons, summaries and drafts using large language models and web sources. This output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. It is a starting point for your judgement, never a substitute for it, and it is not legal, financial, medical or professional advice.
DEFT never sends email, creates calendar events, makes bookings or makes purchases on your behalf. Every outbound action is taken by you. You are responsible for anything you do with an agent's output — including anything you choose to send.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use DEFT to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to scrape or harvest personal data at scale, to generate harassment, fraud or malware, to circumvent plan limits, or to resell access to the service. Don't attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt or overload the service.
7. Your content
Your tasks, notes and agent outputs are yours. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store, process and display them so the service can work for you. We claim no ownership and we do not use your content to train models. See the Privacy Policy for details.
8. Third-party services
DEFT connects to Google Workspace, model providers and a web search API. Their terms govern their services, and we are not responsible for their outages or changes. If you supply your own API key, your relationship with that provider is yours to manage, including its costs.
9. Availability
We aim for high availability but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we discontinue something material, we will give you reasonable notice and, where you have prepaid for it, a pro-rata refund.
10. Termination
You may stop using DEFT and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, ordinarily after notice and a chance to fix the problem.
11. Disclaimers and liability
DEFT is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be emailed to you at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use DEFT after that means you accept them.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [PLACEHOLDER — jurisdiction], and disputes will be resolved in the courts of [PLACEHOLDER — venue].
